Farewell, Comedy King

farewell, Dolphy!

Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr, fondly known as Dolphy, the Philippines’ King of Comedy was finally laid this afternoon, July 15, at the Heritage Park, Taguig City.

The funeral took all but 5 minutes, with the chapel just a couple of meters away from Dolphy’s final resting place.  Everyone wore white, except Zsa Zsa Padilla, who had on a black blouse.

The Divine Diva, with her daughters Nicole and Zia, and actresses Maricel Soriano and Maybelyn dela Cruz led the funeral procession.  Mayor Alfredo Lim, one of Dolphy’s closest friend was one of the pall bearers.

When it was finally the time for the final viewing reserved only for the late actor’s immediate family, the Quizon family all became very emotional, except for Zsa Zsa who looked calm and collected.  She then took a few minutes hugging her “lovey’s” casket one last time.

Father Larry Paraon then reminded everyone that Dolphy didn’t want a tearful goodbye.  He urged everyone to be happy and invited everyone to shout “Hep Hep, Hooray!”
