For the first time in Philippine movie history, the Vilma Santos starrer “The Healing” gets 2 classifications: R-13 and R-18.
Simply put, the version with the R-13 rating means movie goers over 13 can go watch the film while the R-18 version will only allow patrons over 18 years old to be admitted.
MTRCB Chairman Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares explains that they allowed the showing of the film but with separate versions “to help the movie industry reach a wider audience” and “to allow the audience the freedom to decide the version they will patronize.”
MTRCB will strictly monitor the said ruling when the movie hits theaters on Wednesday, July 25.
The movie will also have two separate premiere nights owing to the different classifications tomorrow, July 24. The R-18 version will be shown at the Shangri-La Cinema at 3:30 p.m., while the R-18 version will be screened at the SM Megamall Cinema 10 around 7 p.m.
The Healing is directed by one of the Philippines premiere movie-maker, Chito Roño
