Miriam Quiambao aired her opinions about the LGBT community on an episode of “The Bottomline” with Boy Abunda. Miriam Quiambao, a Playboy Philippines Covergirl, was a guest panelist and she gave her take on the issue of religion and its relationship with a LGBT. Not contented with what she said on The Bottomline, Miriam Quiambao took to her Twitter account and caused a furor thereafter. Miriam Quiambao, a Born-Again Christian, tweeted this:
“Homosexuality is not a sin but it is a lie from the devil. Do not be deceived. God loves gays and wants them to know the truth”
After drawing a lot of negative reactions with her controversial tweet, she apologized saying:
“I’m sorry LGBT. Perhaps I was too harsh with the words I used. Will do my best to be more sensitive. #respect #nobodysperfect”.
But her apology apparently was not enough to some and did not sit well on others. Some in the LGBT community felt it was a half-hearted apology only meant to assuage the growing controversy over what she said. Some notable replies to Miriam Quiambao on Twitter:
Makeup artist to the stars Jigs Mayuga said: “Dear @miriamq, your statement is a grave INSULT to all gay people who have nurtured and supported you throughout the years. Shame on you!”
Paulo Castro said: @miriamq worry about ur own subjective salvation,we’ll worry about ours. get out of our faces.dnt force ur stupid religion down our throats.
On Facebook: “I don’t hate Miriam or think that what she’s saying are hateful words coming from the devil but I want her and other people like her who have the same thoughts about homosexuality that I am at peace, I am their equal, that I love myself, and the devil has nothing to do with my sexual preference.”
