"The Voice" Philippines Premiere Telecast

“The Voice” Philippines Premiere Telecast

ABS-CBN launches the highly anticipated Philippine franchise of the “The Voice” via a primer aired last Sunday and its premiere telecast aired today, June 15.  As expected, almost all of the Philippines tuned in to tonight’s episode with netizens bombarding micro-blogging site Twitter with various reactions.

The singing competition hosted by Toni Gonzaga with sister Alex and ex PBB Teens housemate, Robi Domingo managed to keep viewers on their seat.  The biggest draw for the show however, will be coming from the show’s judges/coaches/mentors: Pop Princess, Sarah Geronimo, Tony Award Winner, Leah Salonga, Black-Eyes Peas member Apl de Ap, and rock icon, Bamboo.

The four judges started screening the first batch for the Blind Auditions.  The highlight of tonight’s show was when Thor Dulay’s rendition of the Whitney Houston classic “I Have Nothing” convinced all four judges to turn their chairs his way.  In the end, the 32-year old backup singer chose Apl de Ap.

Sarah Geronimo: ‘Gerald is special to me’

Sarah Geronimo: are they or aren’t they?

MANILA, Philippines – Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo and actor Gerald Anderson reunited on Tuesday night at the Araneta Coliseum for the 25th anniversary of Cebuana Lhuillier, where they gamely performed for their fans.

Geronimo said she’s happy to be working again with actor Gerald Anderson, who allegedly stopped pursuing her because of her parents.

“Happy kasi everytime na nagkikita kami, natutuwa talaga ako kasi ‘yun nga,” Geronimo said.

Geronimo admitted that she really treasures her special moments with Anderson, who said they have remained good friends.

During the event, their fans went wild when Geronimo asked Anderson to sing with her. The actor accepted and they sang “I Won’t Last A Day Without You,” the theme song from their hit movie, as well as “We Got Tonight.”

“Wala siyang balak kumanta and pumayag naman. ‘Yung kanta paborito niya ‘yon,” she said.

When asked of the reason why she asked Anderson if he is still single, Geronimo replied: “Wala naman, wala lang.”

The singer said she’s glad that they can still make their fans happy. “’Yun naman ang purpose namin bilang entertainer na mapasaya ang mga tao,” she said.

For now, Geronimo said she hopes she and Anderson can keep their friendship. “Kung special siya sa akin? Oo naman. Yung friendship naming in time sana mas lumalim pa,” she said.

Angeline Quinto tries acting again via MMK

Will Angeline be able to replicate Sarah Geronimo’s multi-media appeal?

Pop Superstar Angeline Quinto will portray the role of Bagobo native in her first-ever “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode this Saturday (August 11).

Angeline Quinto will play the role of Carina, a native of the Bagobo tribe who fell in love with a good-looking Ilonggo named Ariel (portrayed by Jason Abalos). Aside from Ariel’s family who is against their love affair, the cultural differences between Carina and the man she loves will complicate issues in their relationship. Will their love survive despite all hindrances and challenges? Aside from Angeline and Jason, the “MMK” episode will also star Alex Castro, Arie Reyes, Tanya Gomez, Bing Davao, Eva Darren, Tom Olivar, Isabel Lopez, Girlie Alcantara, and Izzy CaniIlo. It will also be the acting debut of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Editon 4 ex-housemates Alec Dungo and Roy Requejo.

Don’t miss another milestone in Angeline’s career in an episode that celebrates World Indigenous Day this Saturday in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK), after “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN.

Will Angeline seize the chance to prove once again that she can cross-over and be a multi-media star like Sarah Geronimo?  It can be noted that Angeline’s first foray into acting via the movie ““Born to Love You” opposite indie turned mainstream hunk, Coco Martin was not as successful as initially expected.   Guess we’ll have to wait and see this Saturday.

Sarah Geronimo contemplating on chopping off long locks

Sarah Geronimo: when will he find “the one”

Pop princess Sarah Geronimo is reportedly considering chopping off her long, beautiful locks!

According to pinoyparazzi, should Sarah go through with it, she is most probably rebelling against her mom’s continued meddling in her personal relationship.

Sarah went through the same stage before, with actor/dancer Rayver Cruz.  We all know what happened to that.  Rayver gave up on her and went to sexy, woman-of-the-world Cristine Reyes.

Now, even if Gerald Anderson does not verbalize it, her mom’s cold treatment of him is the reason why he’s finally throwing in the towel, 5 months after he publicly admitted that he is courting the talented singer/actress.

Gerald first went public about his admiration for Sarah in February, 2012.

Now, it’s happened again and yet another guy gives up on lovely yet sheltered Sarah Geronimo.

Gerald Anderson “not ready” to talk about Sarah Geronimo

Gerald Anderson

Hunky Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson is not yet ready to talk about the status of him courting the Pop Princess, Sarah Geronimo.

Gerald good-naturedly, yet firmly pleaded not to be asked about the most recent surrounding him supposedly “giving up” in wooing the pretty multi-media superstar.

“Huwag muna ang isyu, today ang celebration, e. Huwag muna ‘yan.” “Please, not that issue, today’s the celebration, let’s not talk about that yet”

The celebration Gerald referred to was the recent basketball championship of Star Magic Games last July 29 in Quezon City.

“There’s always another time for that. Today’s not the right time,” he pleaded with a smile.

Gerald promised that he will answer everything after he comes back from his one-week vacation in Egypt with his father and his younger brother.

Gerald also hopes to visit Israel to reconnect with his spiritual side.

Gerald left for Egypt last July 30, Monday.

Gerald Anderson gives up on Sarah Geronimo

Sarah Geronimo

Mommy Divine and Daddy Delfin, proud parents of the Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo guested on Sarah G Live! yesterday, July 29.

In this rare guesting in line with the pop superstar’s month-long birthday celebration, both Mommy Divine and Sarah herself answered the nagging question that hounded the young singer as of late: Has Gerald Anderson given up on courting Sarah?

In a portion of Sarah’s musical-variety show with Ai-Ai delas Alas acting as an interviewer, Mommy Divine gave her piece regarding the question.

“Kami nga ni Daddy [Delfin] ang nagbigay ng permiso na ligawan siya [Sarah] sa bahay. “We both gave him permission to court Sarah at home.”

“Kinausap namin talaga siya [Gerald] nang pormal at sabi ko, sa bahay lang puwede ligawan ang anak ko, hindi sa labas o sa text.” “We formally talked to him and told him that he can only court our daughter at home, not outside or through text.”

“Sabi ko, ‘Kung mapapasensiyahan mo ang patakaran naman namin, ganito kami, nirerespeto ka namin, pero sana respetuhin mo rin kami. Kasi babae ang anak ko.” “I  told him ‘ I hope you can respect our policy, we respect you and hopefully you’ll respect us too because our daughter is a girl”’

“Ewan ko lang kung dapat sabihin pero mukhang…” “I don’t know if I should say this but it seems like…” “Pero parang hindi niya mapagtiyagaan ang ganun…” “But it looks like he is unable to do that…”

Sarah defended her mother saying: “Hindi po, sa totoo lang talaga, hindi po ang mommy ko ang nagpatigil kay Gerald na manligaw. Wala.” “Truth be told, it wasn’t my mom that made Gerald stop, no one did.”

Mommy Divine re-assured her daughter that she will find the right guy for her, to which an already weeping Sarah answered:

“Hindi naman ako nagmamadali, Ma, muntik lang.”“I’m in no hurry, mom, just almost.”

In a separate interview, Gerald pleaded not to press him about the controversy surrounding him and Sarah and instead gave a very short reply.

“Okay naman ako.” “I’m okay.”

Sarah Geronimo torn between Gerald and family

Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson

Showbiz insider Ogie Diaz turned to his twitter account to dish about a blind item that could be pointing to pop princess Sarah Geronimo and avid suitor Gerald Anderson.

In his twitter post that started on July 23 and continued until July 25, Ogie Diaz treated fans of the popular social media network with juicy details pertaining to Gerald Anderson supposedly giving up on courting Sarah Geronimo.

Diaz claims that Gerald has decided to stop pursuing the popular multi-media star because of her mother’s unsavory dealings with him.  He added that Sarah’s father invited Gerald to visit his daughter at home, which the hunky actor did, however, once there, Sarah’s mother showed her disdain by repeatedly giving him the cold shoulder treatment.

Sarah is reportedly torn between her duty as a loving daughter and her growing feelings for the young actor.  In her birthday concert last July 5th at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, one of Sarah’s wish was “freedom”.  Many believed that the 24 year-old performer could be voicing her desire to give her heart to the guy she chooses without worrying about whether her mother approves or not.

At 24, Sarah is of age.  She had dutifully and single-handedly lifted her family from poverty and continue to provide for them even to date.  With all due respect to Mommy Divine, Sarah deserves to grow into her own person, experience falling in love and live her life as she chooses.  It’s understandable that she worries about her daughter but Sarah will never realize the realities of life unless she go through it herself.
