Maya and Sir Chief: the magic continues

The magic of Maya (Jodi Sta. Maria) and Sir Chief (Richard Yap) has struck the entire nation again as “Be Careful With My Heart” recently did not only dominate the ratings game but ruled the trending topics list of the popular microblogging site Twitter

Based on the latest data from Kantar Media last Tuesday (March 12), ABS-CBN’s no.1 kilig-serye garnered 26.4% national TV ratings or 13 points higher than the 13.4% of its rival program in GMA “Eat Bulaga.”

The hashtag #SerChiefandMayaNationalKissDay became a trending topic nationwide for several hours. Netizens raved about Sir Chief’s surprise goodbye kiss to Maya that left the former nanny stunned. The kiss happened after the two attended the Junior-Senior Prom Night of Luke (Jerome Ponce) and Nikki (Janella Salvador).

Derek Ramsay reacts to Angelica Panganiban’s ‘Perfect Sunday’

Derek Ramsey defends Angelica Panganiban from Twitter bashing

Derek Ramsay, just like any other Pinoy celebrity with a Twitter account, took to the microblogging site to express his views on a photo posted by ex-flame Angelica Panganiban on the photo sharing site Instagram that showed her and John Lloyd Cruz together.

While many have made conclusions about the post, Derek still won’t make his, except for one observation: Angelica is happy.

In his response to a tweet by @pipawlala, saying, “She (Angelica) said she didn’t deny anything , this picture then, must confirm everything. What can you say?,” Derek responded: “I don’t know if they are together but Angel looks happy. Let’s be happy for her.”

‘Angel isn’t a cheater’

In another tweet, @xzyoume said, “@IamDerekRamsay is nice enough for @IamAngelicaP. Cheaters will regret!!! Bagay si Angelica and JL parehong lasinggero.”

Derek replied, “hi! Pls don’t be like that. Let’s be happy for Angel. She isn’t a cheater.”

Derek gamely responded to these tweets amid the much talked-about Instagram posts by Angelica that allegedly confirmed she and John Lloyd are an item.

It showed a collage of photos showing what seems to be a vacation getaway. Titled “Perfect Sunday!!!” the collage presented a photo at the center bottom showing her and John Lloyd in one frame with the caption, “According to the guy in pink.” John Lloyd wore a pink polo.

Now open with relationship

People who saw the post commented that it was Angelica’s way of presenting her openness regarding her relationship with John Lloyd, which blossomed after a project in Vietnam.

The status had been sketchy but this “revelation” had allegedly made it clear.

Derek had confirmed in May that he and Angelica had called it quits, which is around the same time when Shaina Magdayao also admitted that she and John Lloyd were no longer together.  This was the time when links between Angelica and John Lloyd started.

Fans lobby for Mark Mabasa’s return to X-Factor Philippines

Mark Mabasa already earned for himself numerous fans during his short stint on ‘X Factor Philippines’ (PROMOTIONAL PHOTO)

MANILA, Philippines – “X Factor Philippines” contestant Mark Mabasa became a trending topic on Twitter locally right after he was voted off the show on Sunday.

Apparently, many netizens believe that Mabasa should’ve stayed in the contest.

“I feel so bad that Mark Mabasa has to struggle hard to show his vocal prowess, while others can get away w/ circus acts,” said one.

“With the early elimination of @markmabasa at X-Factor Philippines last night, not going to watch the show anymore! :) I mean it!” said another.

“I was brokenhearted this morning.. Tapos pag check ko sa google ikaw na out..para akong sinaksak ng dalawang beses @markmabasa,” posted another.

“ibalik si @markmabasa #xfactorph!” added yet another obviously disappointed fan.

A deadlock factored in on Mabasa’s eventual elimination from the contest after he and vocal group, Take Off, received the lowest number of votes for the week.

To further advance, Mabasa had to perform James Ingram’s “There’s No Easy Way” while Take Off did a version of Secondhand Serenade’s “Fall For You.”

Judges Martin Nievera and Pilita Corrales, impressed with Mabasa’s performance, both voted to take out Take Off. But Groups mentor Gary Valenciano wanted to protect his own and voted for the ouster of Mabasa. Charice Pempengco, on the other hand, opted for Mabasa.

Under “X Factor” rules, if the 4 judges’ votes are deadlocked, the contestant with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated. This led to Mabasa’s eventual downfall as he received only 3.72% of the votes compared to Take Off’s 3.90%.

As if readying themselves for the backlash, Take Off posted the following statement in their Twitter account upon announcement of last night’s results.

“Please don’t hate us. Mark Mabasa and Takeoff just didn’t get enough votes. All of the #XFactorPH finalists are excellent and deserving. ♥♥♥”

Valenciano also explained his decision via Twitter saying, “I simply stood by my team. It boiled down to who ppl voted 4. I spoke to @markmabasa after the show. Told him I know God has gud plans 4 him.”

Mabasa as with Pempengco are mum on the matter as of this writing.

Continuing with their fight on “X Factor Philippines” are Modesto Taran and Joan Da in the Over 25 category; Take-Off, Daddy’s Home and AKA Jam in the Group category; Jeric Medina, Gabriel Maturan, and Kedebon Colim in the Boys category; KZ Tandingan and Allen Jane Sta. Maria in the Girls category.

Sarah Geronimo torn between Gerald and family

Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson

Showbiz insider Ogie Diaz turned to his twitter account to dish about a blind item that could be pointing to pop princess Sarah Geronimo and avid suitor Gerald Anderson.

In his twitter post that started on July 23 and continued until July 25, Ogie Diaz treated fans of the popular social media network with juicy details pertaining to Gerald Anderson supposedly giving up on courting Sarah Geronimo.

Diaz claims that Gerald has decided to stop pursuing the popular multi-media star because of her mother’s unsavory dealings with him.  He added that Sarah’s father invited Gerald to visit his daughter at home, which the hunky actor did, however, once there, Sarah’s mother showed her disdain by repeatedly giving him the cold shoulder treatment.

Sarah is reportedly torn between her duty as a loving daughter and her growing feelings for the young actor.  In her birthday concert last July 5th at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, one of Sarah’s wish was “freedom”.  Many believed that the 24 year-old performer could be voicing her desire to give her heart to the guy she chooses without worrying about whether her mother approves or not.

At 24, Sarah is of age.  She had dutifully and single-handedly lifted her family from poverty and continue to provide for them even to date.  With all due respect to Mommy Divine, Sarah deserves to grow into her own person, experience falling in love and live her life as she chooses.  It’s understandable that she worries about her daughter but Sarah will never realize the realities of life unless she go through it herself.
